If any of you have been in the internet marketing industry for any length of time, then I’m sure you’ve put your e-mail into some websites to gain access to get a free e-book or video series or something.
I can’t tell you how many I have over the years and at the beginning, I wasn’t smart enough to make an e-mail address just for that sole purpose. Well, these days e-mail overload is getting so much worse. I’m getting e-mails everyday about new courses that are coming out, not just from one person, but from about 5-10 and how great their bonuses are. But what gets me is how they only e-mail when there is a new product. I never receive an e-mail about anything but promotions, and frankly I’m getting ticked off about it.
I have already started deleting my e-mail from some of these lists because I just can’t stand to look at another e-mail promotions. The only good thing I think has come from this is I know how NOT to release a future project. Not saying that this way is wrong, I’m just sick of it and don’t want to be like all those people selling what seems like mostly hype. Notice I said mostly, there are some great products our there that I have purchased that have over delivered on what they said.
I think though, that people should send more e-mails about helping people out, not giving their greatest information away for free, but let them know you do care without trying to shove new products down their throat once a week.
Just my Monday 2 cents!

Email marketing is one of the best ways of getting your brand message across to a wide range of audience. Email marketing is a useful advertising tool for both online businesses and offline business although the former will benefit more.
Online businesses across the World Wide Web opt for email marketing because of not one but several reasons. A research conducted in 2009 by the Direct Marketing Association reveals that email marketing has actually been able to generate $43.62 worth of ROI for each dollar spent on an e-mail marketing campaign. Experts from the industry believe that the ROI will be around $42.08 on each dollar spent in 2010. But this is not all; according to an Ad Effectiveness Survey conducted by the Forbes Media in the first quarter of 2009 has revealed that e-newsletter and e-mail marketing is now being considered as the second-most effective online advertising tool by customers. The first effective tool is still SEO. The survey also revealed that email-marketing is generating huge amount of conversions as well.
Why Email Marketing is Effective?
The effectiveness of email marketing depends on several factors and some of the important reasons for its success include:
• Email marketing allows targeting
• This type of marketing is always data driven
• It is able to successfully drive direct sales
• It is able to build relationships (B2B and B2C) apart from trust and customer loyalty
• It is able to support sales through various channels
Over the years, email-marketing has changed in many ways. Today, online marketing services as well as solutions are able to support database integration, database segmentation and other aspects. This is certainly helping the cause because online marketing is getting better and more effective by the day. The advanced methods used today by several online businesses are able to generate “on the fly” emails, which can very well be customized according to the requirements of an individual recipient. You can now target each of your customers separately.
One of the salient points of e-mail marketing and promotions is that it is able to generate immediate or instant action. This can be website downloads, sales, PDF requests, inquiries, request for brochure, registrations, and much more. It has been seen in the recent past that the more informative an email newsletter is, the easier it is to send prospective customers to offline events and stores, create brand awareness, help in increasing brand visibility, strengthen of customer-business relationships, and encouraging trust as well as loyalty.
If you are planning to put together an email marketing campaign for your existing or new clients then here are two important aspects that you need to consider.
Provide valuable information, which is to the point or concise and should focus on customer needs. One more important thing to remember is that your newsletter or e-mailer should be relevant to the product or service you or your business is offering.
Secondly, you should not get carried away. Email marketing will be effective only if you send e-mailers or newsletters once in a fortnight or month rather than every week.

As you know, search engine optimization is ever changing. We are about to enter into 2010 within a month. Here are few tips for SEO consultants to kick start 2010.
1. Don’ t stick to your strategies: Meta keywords, paid links, keyword stuffing are the practices that worked in 90′s and early 2000′s. Search engine algorithms are changing and if you stick to the outdated strategies, then one day your site may no longer rank in the previous postition and wipe out your business over night.
Just because your tactics worked 3 years ago, it doesn’t mean you can continue applying the same strategies in the future and get the same level of success.
See that you always run test projects in parallel to your main projects. Implement the strategies that worked in your test projects to your main projects.
2. Be aware of competitors: We are into online business. We may wake up a morning and find a new, powerful competitor. Just because that you are at #1 for your targeted keywords, doesn’t mean your competitors are not working and you will remain in same position in future too. No website is at its full position. There is always a room for improvement in the form of traffic and conversions.
3. Learn from mistakes: SEO requires lot of trial and error work. As you gain experience, you get a feel of what works and what doesn’t and you will more likely make a right decision under a circumstance.
4. Try different Strategies: The main goal of an SEO campaign is to convert a lead. A successful campaign can be attained when integrated together with other campaigns. Think about attracting visitors that are at an early stage of buying cycle. Think about methods to get them sign up for your newsletter and blog.
5. Pay attention to what’s going on in search world: I think there is a good chance of Bing becoming a serious competitor in future. So it is good time to invest your SEO efforts toward Bing. Be updated with Google and other search engines’ algorithm changes by subscribing to blogs like SEOmoz and Search engine land.
